Lucknow: A Uttar Pradesh government officer was booked on Saturday for posting “derogatory” remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah on a social media networking site, police said.
The officer identified as Rajesh Kumar Yadav, an Assistant Project Officer (APO) of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) in the Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh.
He had posted “offensive” statements against Modi and Shah on the social networking site Facebook, they said.
An FIR has been filed on Saturday against Yadav at the Balrampur city police station and he has been booked under under section 66 (A) (B) of the Information Technology Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
“The case is being investigated,” a senior police officer of Cyber Crime Investigation Cell (CCIC) said.
